The Department of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the issuance of visas through Philippine diplomatic and consular Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) abroad. The Bureau of Immigration is responsible for the administration of Philippine immigration laws and regulations.

Please be advised that the e-Visa is not a guarantee that the holder will be automatically admitted to the country. The admission of foreign nationals into the Philippines is a function of the immigration authorities at the port of entry.


Furthermore, Please be advised that issued Philippine e-Visas are not valid for conversion to other types of Philippine visas, and are not valid for extension of the authorized period of stay.

Applying for a Philippine visa will require that the applicant's passport be valid for six (6) months beyond the applicant's date of departure from the Philippines.


The Philippine Embassies/Consulates will only accept electronic passports and machine readable passports for visa applications. Non-machine readable passports or hand-scripted passports will not be accepted for visa applications. The Visa Officer has the right to ask for any additional documents that may be deemed necessary.

Non-Immigrant Visas
9(a) Temporary Visitors Visa

for visitors coming for business, pleasure, medical treatment, training, attendance in conferences, meetings and workshops/seminars.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Passport/Travel Document Valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines;
  • Duly Accomplished Visa application form;
  • Proof of bona fide status as tourist or businessman;
  • Confirmed tickets for return or onward journey to the next port of destination;
9(a-6) - Journalism Visitors

Foreign nationals visiting the Philippines temporarily for news and journalism purposes; provided that such temporary visit will not entail an employer-employee relationship with a company/entity in the Philippines or the payment of any compensation in the Philippines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Tickets or flight reservation (entry and exit);
  • Letter of request addressed to the International Press Center;
  • Background of media organization, or of contracting media organization (for freelance journalists);
  • Curriculum Vitae of the newsman/journalist, including a shortlist of work credits;
  • Synopsis/storyline/purpose of the news;
  • Itinerary of activities;
  • List of members of the crew with designations (if any);
  • Employment certificate or contract from the media company;
  • List of equipment with certificate from the media organization that said equipment will be re-exported at the end of the trip to the Philippines; and
  • Hotel accommodation or proof of lodging
